Marvel Studios Phase 4

Tonight was finally Marvel’s turn to take the stage in Hall H at the 2019 San Diego ComicCon, and man they did not disappoint! My head is still reeling from the crazy announcements that were made! Kevin Feige and company shared with the audience and the world what films and Disney + series will debut in Marvel Studios Phase 4 and I can not wait!

I would have loved to have been there in person, it is on my bucket list for sure. Maybe for the next phase announcement, ha! But I did stay on top of all the news being released and here it is all collected in one place for you!

I give you… Phase 4:

The Eternals

Starring Angelina Jolie as Thena, Salma Hayek as Ajax, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Macary, and Richard Madden as Ikaris! In theaters November 6, 2020.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier

Original series coming to Disney + in the Fall of 2020 starring Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and Daniel Bruhl. Anthony Mackie also announced he has officially had his first fitting for the Captain America suit!

Shang-Chi

Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings will star Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and Tony Leung. Directed by Destin Daniel. In theaters February 12, 2021.

WandaVision

Coming to Disney+ in Spring 2021! Starring Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Teyonah Parris and will take place after the events of Avengers Endgame!

Loki

Coming to Disney+ Spring of 2021! Starring Tom Hiddleston and taking place after he gets “Hulk smashed” in the 2012 timeline.

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen (!!!) and directed by Scott Dickerson who says this will be the “first scary MCU movie” and that Doctor Strange will be “destroyed a bit.” In theaters May 7, 2021.

What if…?

The first animated series in the MCU! Jeffrey Wright will be the voice of The Watcher and many actors and actresses from across the MCU will be reprising their roles as voice talent! Premiering on Disney+ Summer 2021.

Hawkeye

A Disney+ series coming Fall 2021. Starring Jeremy Renner and introducing Kate Bishop!!

Thor

Thor: Love and Thunder! Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and…. wait for it… Natalie Portman!!! She will be playing the Jane Foster version of Thor! You guys, director Taika Waititi handed her Mjolnir on stage! I can’t wait… Coming to theaters November 5, 2021.

Black Widow

Finally!! Kicking off Phase 4 will be Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz. Directed by Cate Shortland. The movie will dive into Natasha’s past and she gets to put the pieces of herself back together and become a whole person again. The villain will be Taskmaster, and it’s said he will be tough to take down. In theaters May 1, 2020!

Blade

The surprise of the evening! Mahershala Ali comes on stage and dons a Blade ballcap! No release date yet.

And more…

Kevin Feige quickly announced at the end of the panel that Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Captain Marvel 2, and The Fantastic Four are all confirmed, but have no release date yet! And as if my heart and brain weren’t already about to explode, he then says “There’s not enough time left to talk about mutants.” Wha?????

There you have it, folks! All the latest news coming out of SDCC 2019 from Marvel Studios about Phase 4!! I’m ridiculously excited and I’m not sure what for the most. How about you? What are you most excited for?!

Oh, and one more thing: Avengers Endgame has officially knocked off Avatar as the highest-grossing film of ALL TIME! It is done! Way to go and congratulations Marvel Studios, you’ve created, and continue to create, an amazing and intricate universe that I am oh so grateful to get the chance to watch and be a part of.
